Habitat loss and infectious disease are two of the main threats to amphibians worldwide. One third of all amphibian species may be threatened with extinction and many others face severe population declines. Amphibian Ark declared 2008 as the Year of the Frog and, to foster an appreciation of amphibians and reptiles, ETI has recently published a CD-ROM on the species in the Benelux countries and another on the species in the British Isles.
